Above all I wanted this portfolio to showcase the work it contains. Some portfolios I've seen are very interesting and fun but the book dominates the experience more than the work in the book and I don't think that is what a portfolio should be. At the same time though, I think it is important that the book is well-crafted and understood as its own entity. I also wanted a format that would allow me to update the portfolio without having to start from scratch; so to this end, the portfolio is a series of small booklets which can be reordered to suit the situation.
I'm also interested in maintaining some sort of identity amongst the various documents I use to present myself. The square images, the font, and the grid are elements which were used in this print portfolio as well as my web portfolio and my resumé at the time. Square cut-outs in the pages give a hint as to what is on the next page. I wanted to have something small that required the book to be crafted beyond the print stage. A book is more than just a collection of printed images.
